Directors Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas were working on a video when they found the story for their third film: In the early fifties, Carmen Ignarra left the island of Cuba wanting to become a Hollywood star, but her jealous husband, the Mexican producer Santiago Reachi, as she explains it herself, curtailed her career. Today Carmita survives in an old house, as a gilded cage. She tells her life to Guzmán, who actively participates in this documentary that blurs genre boundaries.
